How we helped clients just like you

In 2012, Kathy Garst pivoted her career from nurse to real estate broker. She started out as many do, with a homemade logo and no marketing plan. She was never really sure where she should be spending her money, so her approach was to “throw everything against the wall and see what sticks.”

Over the next year, Kathy’s vision for her business grew dramatically, and she was ready to bring in the expert help she needed to get there.

Discovering the Distinction

Our first objective was to set Kathy’s growing team apart in a highly competitive and crowded market. We held brand development discovery sessions to uncover her unique selling proposition. This led to the development of the “Trusted. Dedicated. Connected.” tagline she still uses today.

Building the Brand

Our team of skilled copywriters and designers developed a unique brand look and voice that gave the Kathy Garst Sales Team a cohesive, professional, and approachable presence.

Elevating the Client Experience

Alongside branding, we worked to develop marketing that reflected Kathy’s client-focused culture. Listening to the team and her clients’ needs, we created collateral that streamlined and elevated her clients’ experience at every touchpoint, from a value-packed, mobile-friendly website to informative packets for new buyers and sellers.

Planning for Continued Growth

Each year, we develop a goal-driven annual plan and budget to guide marketing activities so every dollar is spent with intention. From online marketing to outreach activities, we’re there every step of the way to keep the Kathy Garst Sales Team growing and profiting.

DMS was working hard to attract new SLPs to their growing business, but needed help to meet their recruiting goals. And while they hoped to attract the “right” candidates who were aligned with their mission and brand values, they hadn’t yet identified what those were—making it hard to identify their best fit candidates.

Highlight the strengths

Right off the bat, we knew that DMS needed to better communicate their unique selling proposition to attract candidates.

Clarify the culture and values

We worked to clarify their company culture and values so these foundational elements could be communicated to current and prospective employees.

Streamline the application process

We made recommendations to simplify the application process, which had previously been cumbersome and lengthy. From the website to the recruiting video and application, every piece was optimized to attract the ideal candidate.

More and better-quality candidates

Following our time together, DMS reports that their results were exactly what they were hoping for, and they have been able to attract more and higher-quality SLP candidates.

“Sarah had the personality and expertise to work with a small business that had been functioning for over 20 years and was able to guide my staff toward new ideas that produced amazing results!

Although we thought we knew exactly who we were, we couldn’t figure out how to communicate our values. When trying to hire additional staff in the 28 states in which our specialists do business, we found ourselves needing to better identify why they would want to come to work for us.

By working with Sarah, we found that we needed to clarify our brand values with the intention of hiring people who fit with our mission. Once our brand was defined, the website and online marketing were aligned in order to solidify our messages. This alignment made a huge difference in not only the look and feel of our small business, but in the types of candidates we attracted.

Sarah’s knowledge, attention to detail, experience, and insightful recommendations were consistent with her professional experience.

The existing church leadership had a very conservitive view of what a church service should look like, and the result was that the congregation skewed toward an older demographic.

Pastor Johnson had a hunch that offering a greater variety of services and programs would attract a more diverse audience than they had previously been reaching—but before making drastic changes, he needed more than a hunch.

Steps Forward

Building the ideal survey

To keep our project within budget and allow people to respond anonymously, we conducted our survey online.

Recruiting respondents

In order to capture a diverse audience of both existing and prospective attendees, we recruited in two ways. Church members took the survey in person via laptop kiosks after weekly service at SFC. To learn about non-members, we sought out popular community members to share the survey via social media and encourage responses.

Providing incentive

A drawing for a Starbucks gift card was offered as an incentive for participation. (Who doesn’t love coffee and cake pops?)

Clear and confident direction

The survey returned valuable information for SFC leadership, including awareness and opinion of several local churches, importance of various aspects/programs, respondents’ description of their “ideal church,” as well as demographic questions to determine differences among age groups etc.

We provided Pastor Johnson with a clear direction on what the community (members and non-members) wanted from a church. He was able to present his ideas with the church elders, supported by a slideshow of real, easily digestible data and verbatim responses from church members and non-members.

“As the world constantly changes, churches, businesses and organizations need someone to help them better understand and navigate their current reality.

I found Sarah to be a breath of fresh air when it comes to working with “experts” in the marketing world.  Her personal transparency and innate ability to relate to the issues pertaining to our project were spot on.

She not only met deadlines but graciously helped keep us on track in order to get the results we needed in a timely manner.
